Trail To SEMA episode 3 holcomb creek

Every year, the world famous SEMA show is held in Las Vegas to highlight the best innovations and new products in the aftermarket automotive world. When most vendors and attendees take a flight to the show, we take the scenic route. For 2019, 14 off road enthusiasts, Youtubers, Internet TV stars take on 10 days of hardcore off road wheeling in heavily modified Jeeps/4x4s that spans 4 states and over 1800 miles in this endurance-testing adventure. Join us where the pavement ends on PowerStop’s Trail To SEMA.

Trail to SEMA 2019 Episode 3: Holcomb Creek

After a successful stint through Gold Mountain and John Bull trail last episode, the crew ventured out for one more day of wheeling in Big Bear, California. Possibly of the best, yet most difficult, trail in Big Bear, Holcomb Creek follows a creek through a canyon valley. Even though the trail runs parallel to the waterway, some of that water ended up on the obstacles to add an additional level of difficulty that put the rigs to the test.

Midway through the trail, we traversed the largest rock garden of Holcomb Creek. This is where the combination of dust, rock, and water proved to be a challenge. With a good line and trust in each Jeep’s capability we made it through relatively unscathed. We say “relatively” because after Nate put his rig on the line for some REVKITs and well…watch the video to find out how he fared.

The Scenery of Big Bear

With trail leader TRLJP 2.0 escorting Nate and his diesel powered Jeep off the trail to receive much needed repair, the Trail To SEMA team kept on wheeling. With a hill climb and large boulder obstacles still ahead, we saw some of the best scenes the trip had to offer. Fall was in full bloom in Big Bear, with a nice mixed of yellow, orange, and red leaves on the trees and classic west coast mountain views. The terrain and background would be very different for the remainder of the 10-day long adventure, so we took in the sights while tackling the last few obstacles

Off to Johnson Valley

With the slightly challenging, yet fun, hill climb out of the way, we took the fire road back into town to gather our gear and head to the next location: the legendary Johnson Valley. For the uninitiated, Johnson Valley, California is home to King of the Hammers and some of the most hardcore wheeling the whole world has to offer. Stay tuned for next week where Trail To SEMA hits the desert!
