Back Trail To SEMA Big Brake Conversion Kit PowerStop Jeep Jk JKU

Big Brake Conversion Kit for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK/JKU) models

As dedicated off road machines or even personalized daily drivers, Jeep Wrangler JK & JKUs are often some of the most modified vehicles in the United States. Modifications such as suspension lifts, bigger tires, steel bumpers, skid plates, etc. increase the overall weight of your ride significantly, though. All this weight puts heavy strain on the components of your Jeep, and possibly most importantly: the braking system.

PowerStop Big Brake Conversion Kit Features

The kit features a set of new extended caliper brackets.

These new brackets are used to relocate the caliper position to accommodate new, 20% larger rotors.

This increases braking leverage by moving the original calipers further from the wheel centerline. More braking leverage means it’s easier to slow your Jeep down, no matter the amount of heavy modifications added on. For comparison, here is the rotor diameters of the new Big Brake Kit vs OE Stock:

Proven Performance

Don’t worry, just because the rotors are bigger doesn’t mean they won’t still be Drilled & Slotted with a silver Zinc Dichromate plating. The drill holes and rounded slots keep the rotor cool while the Zinc-plating helps protect against rust and corrosion. The rotors are then combined with Z36 Carbon-Fiber Ceramic brake pads. We’ve reinforced the Ceramic brake pads with Carbon-Fibers to provide severe duty stopping power on trail that won’t sacrifice daily drivability on roads and highways. The Carbon-Fiber Ceramic formula also features fade-free performance on long downhill descents and better heat dissipation ensured by stainless steel, noise-free, shims.

Adding together the proven performance of PowerStop Z36 Carbon-Fiber Ceramic brake pads with new extended caliper brackets and larger Drilled & Slotted rotors will give you complete control of your modified Jeep no matter the terrain. PowerStop prides itself on having bolt-on, easy to install brake components. The Big Brake Conversion Kit is no different. We include everything you need, including premium stainless steel hardware, for an easy, problem-free installation.

We test our products in real-world applications, too. Every year, the PowerStop team journeys from our headquarters in Chicago to the SEMA show in Las Vegas with a group of hardcore wheelers on Trail To SEMA. This grueling, 10 day adventure gives us a proving ground to test our brake kits on some of the most insane terrain the country has to offer.

Note: 17+ inch wheels are required. Wheel spacers are required with 17-inch factory wheels and may be required for some aftermarket wheels.

Big Brake Kit Installation & Review

Longtime PowerStop friend Jason Lewis (AutoEdits on Youtube) was one of the first to install the new Big Brake Conversion Kit onto his Jeep. Jason is an experienced off-roader that has joined us on the Trail To SEMA in previous years and towing how to’s (Found Here). In the video below, Jason shows us how to install the new conversion upgrade brake kit and his review of it. As a bonus, he takes us through how to bleed brakes, an important maintenance process to ensure the braking components can operate to their full potential.
